they/them

i've been fascinated with fibre-based art for years, which came to a head during 2020's lockdown when an abundance of time for self-reflection led to a strong desire to learn as many fibre skills as possible.

studying a diploma in object conservation at cardiff university firmly nestled me in the intersection of heritage and fibre. i developed a moral compass deepseated in nature connection, the importance of textiles throughout history, and fibre arts as a tool for the activist.

this manifested in a new stage of life, where i dropped out of university and moved to a fibre farm in the south shropshire hills. it was the room to breathe i was afforded here that taught me how to be an artist. i can't overstate the power of proximity to nature; briefly dropping out of society to live in a field is by far the most effective coping mechanism.

when i moved back to cardiff, i was determined to bring as many aspects of this experience back to the city with me, and so i started bailey homespun as a way to develop my methods and share my love for fibre.
